1930's Argson 98cc Vintage tricycle cyclecar project.
An interesting, original-condition 1930s Argson tricycle, powered by a rear-mounted 98cc Villiers two-stroke engine and a two-speed gearbox and a great basis to convert to a fun cyclecar type machine and vintage paddock transport.
It sits on 2.75 x 19-inch rear wheels with a smaller front wheel, which is currently steered via a left-hand driver's crank lever and I'm still to work out how to start it without a push!
Lovely Original Details:
-
Villiers engine control levers and 98cc Villiers two stroke engine.
-
Period front headlamp
- Rear wheel drum brakes
-
A rather optimistic 0-60mph front-mounted speedo by Cowey
-
Retains its unmolested patina throughout (though the utilitarian seat would certainly benefit from retirement and replacement).
Condition & Documentation:
-
Currently a non-runner requiring a full mechanical overhaul.
-
Please note: There is no documentation with the machine.
The Potential: With some vision, engineering, and fabrication, this is a prime candidate to convert into a fun, single-seater cyclecar-type machine—swapping the crank steering for a proper steering wheel and fitting a more appropriate cyclecar-inspired seat.
For the buyer taking on the project, workshop assistance and collaboration can be offered to help design, fabricate, and deliver the conversion here at Gunn & Co if required. Contact Us.
