Sell with Gunn & Co
Consignment & brokerage for vintage bicycles, early light cars and cyclecars
Selling an old car or bicycle is often about more than agreeing a price. You want it understood, described honestly and introduced to people who will appreciate what makes it interesting.
At Gunn & Co, we offer a friendly, personal approach to consignment sales and brokerage, bringing together knowledge of the machines and connections within the enthusiast community. We already sell bicycles on consignment and welcome enquiries from owners of early light cars, cyclecars and interesting restoration projects.

An enthusiast’s approach
Every machine has its own story. Its history, originality, condition and completeness all help shape how it should be presented to a prospective buyer.
We begin with a conversation about what you have, what you know about it and what you would like to achieve. From there, we can discuss whether we are well placed to help and which approach would suit you and your machine.
Light cars, cyclecars & interesting early machinery
Our motoring interests lie principally in the pre-1930 era, with a particular enthusiasm for simple, lightweight cars and cyclecars. Makers such as GN, Amilcar, Salmson, Peugeot, Morgan and Bugatti alongside the Austin Seven, capture the character of the machines we are keen to help owners buy and sell.
Much of the specialist car market caters for exotic and high-value vehicles. Our interest also lies with the more modest machines that often change hands privately: cars with charm, ingenuity and historical interest, whose appeal is not measured by price alone.
These cars deserve care, enthusiasm and informed attention when it comes to finding a new owner. We aim to connect each machine with people who understand its appeal, whether it is ready to enjoy, an original survivor or a restoration project.

Vintage & collectible bicycles
Bicycles remain an important part of Gunn & Co. Our consignment service is selective, focusing on veteran, vintage and collectable bicycles with quality construction, historical interest or particular appeal to enthusiasts. Original examples and worthwhile restoration projects are welcome.
Age alone does not make a bicycle collectable. We do not generally take on low-value everyday bicycles or basic mass-produced models, where the likely selling price would not justify the costs of a specialist consignment sale.
Before arranging a visit or bringing a bicycle to us, please send clear photographs, details of its maker and condition, and the price you hope to achieve. We can then consider whether it is suitable for our service and discuss a realistic selling price. Acceptance depends on the bicycle’s merits and likely market value, rather than the owner’s asking price alone.
As with our motoring interests, the aim is to understand what makes each bicycle interesting, present it thoughtfully and help it find an appreciative next owner.

Consignment & discreet brokerage
A consignment sale allows us to offer your machine for sale on your behalf, with the practical arrangements agreed before proceeding.
For owners who prefer to retain their vehicle while a buyer is sought, a brokerage arrangement may be more appropriate. We also welcome conversations about discreet sales where a public listing would not be suitable.
The scope of the service and any additional agreed costs will be discussed with you before work begins.
Commission & listing fees
Cars & vehicles
Our commission is 10% of the final sale price achieved, subject to a minimum commission of £750, and is payable on completion of the sale.
An upfront listing and photography fee of £150 covers preparing the photographs and written description. This is credited against our commission when the vehicle sells through Gunn & Co, so it is not an additional charge on a successful sale.
Collectable bicycles
Our commission is 15% of the final sale price achieved and is payable on completion of the sale.
An upfront listing and photography fee of £50 covers preparing the photographs and written description. This is credited against our commission when the bicycle sells through Gunn & Co, so it is not an additional charge on a successful sale.
For both vehicles and bicycles, the upfront fee is deducted from the commission due, leaving the remaining balance payable on completion.
No VAT is currently added to our fees.
Any collection, delivery or other transport costs are separate from our commission and will be discussed and agreed with you in advance.

Let’s have a conversation
If you are thinking of selling, we would be pleased to hear what you have. A few clear photographs, its location and a little background are a good starting point. Any details of the maker, approximate date, condition, known history and accompanying parts or documents are helpful.
There is no need for a polished sales description. Just tell us about the machine and what you have in mind. For bicycle enquiries, please include your expected selling price; for vehicles, an indication of price is helpful if you have one in mind. Please also mention any particular timescale.
We will consider each enquiry on its merits and let you know whether our service is a suitable fit.
