A nice example of an early English Velocipede bicycle also known as a 'Bone Shaker'. The ancestor of the modern bicycle. This particular example is a good riding machine having been well cared for by the previous owner and custodian having used for various period events in their ownership.  Good tight spokes and fellows for the wheels and a leather strap operates the rear brake by twisting the handlebars. Leg rests out the front of the frame for downhill coasting. Forged frame and forks with wooden handlebar grips with brass ferrules. Brass triangular pedals are adjustable for gearing in the crank holes. Leather covered pan saddle. The maker is currently unknown, but is certainly built by one of the many rural blacksmiths which every English village had at the time.

Front wheel is 36" inch diameter and the rear is 30" inch.

I've seen a lot of velocipede bicycles over the years and this particular bicycle is a very good and solid example for riding and enjoying at events and parades by the next custodian.  A real Time Machine.
